Abstract

Experiments on Bleustein-Gulyaev electroacoustic surface wave amplification in CdS are described. Large electronic gains up to 105 dB/cm have been obtained at 85 MHz. Comparisons with the amplification of Rayleigh waves propagating on the other faces of the same crystal show that the Bleustein-Gulyaev electroacoustic surface wave gives higher amplifications and is much less dependent on the mechanical and chemical surface disturbances.
