Abstract
ABSTRACTIf Black women are compelled to conceal their life stories, as Darlene Clark Hine suggests, how can biographers of Black women's lives, who work closely with student researchers, do justice to their subjects and equip students to undertake this delicate research? This essay offers a case study to teach faculty how to guide student research on the lives of subjects prone to secrecy.
