Abstract

AbstractWe study the viability of obtaining large natal kicks during the formation of massive black holes (BHs) by studying the asymmetric mild explosion of 21 M⊙ pre‐supernova stellar models, by means of 3D Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) simulations. Our preliminary results show either smaller or higher values for the final velocity of the BH than the reduced velocity expected from BH mass accretion, depending on the energy of the explosion.
