Abstract

Abstract The study was located on the bentgrass nursery of the Westfield Country Club. Insecticides and nematodes were applied 11 Jul to plots 4 × 8 ft (1.2 × 2.4 m) arranged in a RCB, replicated 4 times. Granular insecticides were applied using a drop spreader and liquids were applied using a CO2 sprayer with TeeJefT* XR8006VS nozzles at 30 psi (2.11 kg/cm2) pressure that delivered a volume of 1.0 gal/1000 ft2 (407 liter/ha). Treatments were not irrigated after application. Environmental conditions at time of treatment were as follows. Turf: level, dense, 7/,6 inch (11 mm) height, heavy dew present. Thatch: loose, moist, W to 3/s inch (6-9 mm) or less. Soil: moist, 76°F (24.4°C) at 1.0 inch (2.5 cm), 75°F (23.9°C) at 3.0 inch (7.6 cm), sandy loam. Weather: mostly sunny, 76 to 82°F (24.4-27.8°C), 0 to 7 mph (0-11.7 km/h) wind. Efficacy data taken 18 Jul (7 DAT) and 25 Jul (14 DAT) were based on the number of BCW and SWW larvae flushed to the surface in a 1.0 yd2 (0.84 m2) area using a soap irritant drench of 15 ml Joy*9 dishwashing detergent in 2.0 gal (7.6 liter) water.
