Abstract
The title salt, (C4H12N2)2[Bi2Cl10]·3H2O, was prepared by reaction of bismuth trichloride and piperazine in a hydrochloric acid medium. It consists of piperazinium dications and dimeric [Bi2Cl10]4− tetraanions, the latter with twofold rotation symmetry, together with water of crystallization. Hydrogen-bond interactions, including N—H⋯O, N—H⋯Cl and O—H⋯Cl interactions, stabilize the crystal structure.
