Abstract
The reaction of Cp 2TiCl 2 with AgAsF 6 or the reaction of Cp 2TiCl 2 with AsF 5, in SO 2 as the solvent, gives Cp 2Ti(AsF 6)Cp 2TiCl 2 in quantitative yields. The chemical characterization, the solvent equilibria, and the thermal decomposition behaviour are described on the basis of chemical analysis, 1H NMR, IR, Raman, and mass spectral data. The structure of titanocene bis(hexafluoroarsenate) has been determined by an X-ray diffraction study.
