Abstract

Bauhinia tomentosa commonly known as yellow bell orchid tree belongs to Fabaceae family and it is best versatile and most commonly used household remedy for many manifestations. The aqueous leaf extract of Bauhinia tomentosa were subjected to produce silver nanomaterials. When aqueous extract added to chemical solution the reduction process occured and the colour change from light green into dark brown was visually observed. The synthesized nanomaterials were characterized by using Ultra Violet Spectrophotometer and FT- IR analysis. The UV spectrophotometer characterization of synthesized nanoparticles at different proportions such as 1:1, 2:2, 3:3, 4:4 and 5:5 of extract and solution mediated synthesized nanoparticles showed a maximum absorbance at the range of 450 to 550nm. FT- IR analysis of silver, copper and iron nanoparticles showed the presence of alcohol/ phenol group (-OH), alkyl stretch (C-H), aromatic (C=C) bending, and amine (C- N) functional groups present was confirmed.
