Abstract
Digitalization of biology transforms its information content. New information resources appear, such as collections of digital images, spectral and colour parameters of living biological objects. The creation of such collections develops classical traditions, supplementing them with new information about the state of a living object, plants or animals. This paper presents information on spectral and colour parameters of plants for future digital collections (new generation herbaria). This information was obtained by direct scanning on flatbed scanners of living plant samples before herbariums creation with further analysis by using graphic editors. Simultaneously, spectral and colour characteristics of the surface of the same plants were obtained using commercial digital spectrophotometer-calibrators, which have not been previously used for such tasks. This work represents one of the first examples of biological colorimetry, when objective quantitative parameters of living biological objects were obtained by different physical methods.
