Abstract

Biochips have become important analytical tools in biomedical research and clinical diagnostics because they have the advantage to integrate many different analytical steps, such as sample preparation, chemical reactions, analytical separation, all on the same device. There are various types of biochips including microfluidic chips, microarray chips and bioelectronic chips. This article describes the progress of biochip technology, clinical applications and limitations, and technical outlook. Key words: Microchip analytical procedures; Laboratory techniques and procedures
