Abstract

The present research aims, through a correlation of the concepts of biopolitics and necropolitics, developed respectively by Michel Foucault and Achille Mbembe, to discuss, through bibliographical research, the precarious situation in which the Yanomami people find themselves in the face of the invasion of their lands by the illegal mining industry. Therefore, it will be argued that this precarious situation goes beyond mere government neglect or involuntary acts but represents a project of extermination of the Yanomami population, that is, necropolitics. Thus, this research will expound on the concepts of biopolitics and necropolitics, so that the conflict between the Yanomami people and the invasion of illegal mining can be understood not merely as an isolated phenomenon, but rather as part of a comprehensive political project of extermination and systematic violation of human rights.
