Research Article| April 01 2018 Binaries, Marginalized Voices, and Borderlands in Recent Immigration History Carlos Blanton Carlos Blanton Carlos Blanton is Professor of History at Texas A&M University with a 1999 PhD from Rice University. He has authored The Strange Career of Bilingual Education in Texas, 1836–1981 (Texas A&M University Press, 2004) and George I. Sánchez: The Long Fight for Mexican American Integration (Yale University Press, 2014), edited A Promising Problem: The New Chicana/o History (University of Texas Press, 2016), and published numerous essays. Blanton’s work has been honored with the 2005 Tullis Award for best book in Texas history, the 2010 Bolton Cutter Award for best article in Borderlands history, and the 2016 National Association of Chicana-Chicano Studies’ best book award.
