Abstract

In this paper, novel top branched carbon nanotube (TBCNT) were discovered by the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). This new kind TBCNT was grown directly on tungsten wire by pyrolysis of FePc. At 1123 K FePc can be decompounded into C, Fe and other elements, the deposition site of C atom was calculated when FePc be decompound in test, and the growth of TBCNT was experimented according the result of calculation. The growth technique of TBCNT was carefully researched. The bifurcate mechanism was analyzed according the crystal and dynamical theories. The field emission characteristic of the TBCNT film was measured, the measured result indicated that the TBCNT film cathode can be used as traffic pilot signals, colored message or a pixel of giant screen display. Using the TBCNT film cathode, we fabricated a novel cylinder-shaped structure field emission lighting tube (FELT)
