Abstract

Biexciton luminescence of Nal is observed under excitation with intense laser light in the n = 1 exciton absorption region. The luminescence has two bands. The high-energy band is attributed to a biexciton state, which is a bound state of two free excitons, on the basis of the estimate of the binding energy. Measurement of luminescence spectra at various temperatures reveals that the low-energy band originates from a bound biexciton, which is a bound state of a free exciton and a bound exciton.
