Abstract

Bicyclic systems with two bridgehead (ring junction) nitrogen atoms are interesting heterocyclic compounds that have gained much attention in the literature. These N,N-bicyclic systems with scaffolds such as triazine, oxadiazine, thiatriazine, pyridazine, pyrazole, triazole, tetrazole and thiadiazole exhibit unique chemical properties, allowing them to be the attractive core moieties and building blocks of many essential pharmaceutical and medicinal compounds. Herein, we report the advances in the development of N,N-junction bicyclic systems, their properties and applications in the medicinal field from 2008 to 2018.
