Abstract

We obtained biaxially oriented NdBa 2Cu 3O 7 (Nd-123) superconducting films with T c=89 K on {1 0 0}〈0 0 1〉 textured Ag tapes without any buffer layers. The lower substrate temperature seems to be favorable for a better biaxial orientation of the Nd-123 grains; the film deposited at 600–670 °C had an excellent biaxial crystal orientation, while on the textured Ag tape heated at 690–750 °C, Nd-123 phase grew in two orientations, 45° apart.
