Abstract

Crystal alignment on metal substrate is requested to achieve a high Jc superconducting wire of Tl-1223. For the purpose, we examined rolling and annealing conditions of Ag tapes, and were successful to developed {100} textured Ag tapes. Tl1(Ba0.8Sr0.2)2Ca2Cu3O9 superconducting films were prepared by a spray pyrolysis method on this Ag tape. X-ray pole figure measurement indicated the film contained biaxially oriented T1-1223 crystals. The Jc of the biaxially oriented T1-1223 film were 9.0 × 104 A/cm2 at 77K, 0 T and 7.0 × 103 A/cm2 at 77K, 1 T (H // c-axis). These values, however, were almost same as the Jc of the c-axis film prepared on non-crystal aligned Ag tape. A threshold value of the biaxial crystal orientation ratio is thought to be exist to increase the Jc from the c-axis oriented film’s.
