Abstract

In this study, evaluative speech acts in articles published between 1955 and 1964 in Chinese linguistic journals are identified, analyzed and compared with those published in respective journals between 2006 and 2010. We aim to answer the following questions: Where are the acts of evaluations located within the articles? What can be the object of the evaluation? How are the discourses of evaluation structured and realized, and how and why did they change over time, if at all?
