Abstract

Introduction: Australian combat sports are decentralised, without dedicated medical support teams (physiotherapists, doctors etc.) to assist in implementation of injury prevention programmes (IPPs). Therefore, coach's personal knowledge and beliefs of injury risk may influence their level of support, and therefore the success of, IPPs. To examine this, the present study aimed to investigate perceptions of Australian combat sport coaches and managers of the risk/seriousness of injury to their athletes.
