Abstract

The Phomopsisdisease of carrot (Daucus carota L.) is caused by the fungusPhomopsis dauciVon Arx. The fungus infects and kills the umbels, and spreads in the stems. On the latter pycnids are formed. This disease is of economic importance in the seed district of West Friesland. Up to 80% of the seed umbels may be destroyed. Rainy, hot weather favours the spreading of the disease.
