Abstract

Together with the calculation of the solidus and the liquidus equations of Mg, Zn, Ga, Cd, Sn, Te, Hg, Pt, Pb, and Bi in indium, the equilibrium distribution coefficients were determined for these admixtures and predicted for another four elements. This rendered possible the composition of a periodical correlation of equilibrium distribution coefficients of admixtures in indium. The 110Ag distribution was experimentally studied with regard to zonal melting of indium. A macrodistribution with enrichment at the ingot end was found in accordance with theoretical expectations.
