Abstract

In January of each year, the Family & Consumer Sciences Research Journal selects several articles for awards for the previous year. The awards include a Best Paper in each of the sub‐disciplines, an Outstanding Paper, and an Emerging Scholar. The criteria include: originality of the research topic, quality of the research design and methodology, and the potential to make a lasting contribution to family and consumer sciences. The awards are presented in June at the annual conference of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. The awards for the Best Papers in the Family & Consumer Sciences Journal (FCSRJ) were established in 2009, and the award for Emerging Scholar was established in 2010. The award process begins in January of each year when the Editor compiles a list of papers published during the previous year. The papers are arranged by disciplines such as apparel, textiles, and merchandising; foods and nutrition; and so forth.
