Abstract
Herein, a brief review of the axicon lens and spatial light modulators (SLM) components is presented which is used in the transformation of Gaussian beams into non-diffracting Bessel beams. The study conducted in this paper is thought-provoking as it provides a comparison between the real axicon with computer-generated holograms (CGHs)-SLM which provides guidelines for its applications and drawbacks. Recently, fluidic axicons overcome the limitations suffered by the static axicon and SLM in terms of tunability of the Bessel beam and high price, respectively.
