Abstract

In this paper, we study the dipolar auto-correlation function in plasmas using the adiabatic approximation. We show that in addition to Stark splitting a new splitting, discovered earlier by Berry as a supplementary phase (Berry phase) in the wave function, has to be taken into account. We find that this phase affects the center of the line for hydrogenic emitters in plasmas.
