Abstract

Benediction with Self Roseanna Alice Boswell (bio) I stopped praying years ago when I lost god between my thighs& thumb. Enough divinity in the well of me for my ownchurch, I ask myself for what I want & give in moderation. My husbandrises from our bed every morning & I am thankful: thankful for the slope of his ass, his calf musclesliding into jeans, knot of hair over waistband. This worship that is his sleep-smell & tooth-crook. I know what it is to beswallowedby need & open my palm for more. The arc of my shoulderblade is my own promise. My own flood-thirst I make again & again.I dazzle myself between sheets, tell my husband to leave theblinds open––let the sun anoint everything I've touched.
