Abstract

The authors describe a bench test designed at the VNIIAEN to study the hydrodynamic bearings in settled static loading regimes with thermal stabilization during individual as well as combined loading of radial and thrust bearings. The bench consists of a unit with drive from a balanced dc dynamometer, booster, and lubricating and loading systems, and is illustrated here. Provision was made for the control, measurement, and registration of the following indexes: pressure and temperature of the lubricant at the inlet and exit of the bearing; amount of lubricant pumped through the bearing; temperature of friction surfaces in the maximum heating zones; load applied on the bearings; rotor rpm; and moment of resistance to rotation in the bearing layer of the thrust bearing under test. The experimental dependences could be used for designing the sliding base with pressure lubrication, lubricant systems, and systems of control and protection of high-speed pumps of high unit capacity for the power and chemical industries.
