Abstract

General Brig. Zygmunt Piasecki (1893–1954) initially served with the 1st Uhlan Regiment of the Polish Legions, he went on to command the 7th Lublin Uhlan Regiment named after Gen. Kazimierz Sosnkowski, the 17th Cavalry Brigade and the Krakow Cavalry Brigade. He fought in the Polish-Soviet War, World War I and World War II. At the end of the Polish campaign of 1939, he was taken prisoner by the Germans. After the war he settled permanently in Nice, where he died in 1954.
