Abstract
The exchange of (CH 3) 2N groups for halogen in the reaction of tetrakis(dimethylamino)diboron with the boron halides BCl 3, BBr 3, R 2BCl and RBBr 2 yields (dimethylamino)halodiborons B 2[N(CH 3) 2] 4− n X n ( n = 1, 2; XCl, Br). Diboron tetrahalides cannot be prepared by this reaction using excess of a boron halide.
