Abstract

Contribution to direct coupling of supercritical fluid extraction to capillary supercritical fluid chromatography. I. Theoretical optimization of some important instrument parameters. Up until now supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) were developed independently. The present work examines for the first time direct coupling of SFE to capillary SFC. This article deals with the theoretical optimization of some important instrumental parameters such as capillary inside diameter, capillary length, pressure drop along the column, linear gas velocity in column and injection volume. For an injection volume of 1 μl, capillaries with 0.15 mm inside diameter represent an optimum for direct coupling SFE to capillary SFC. However they are not yet commercially available.
