Abstract
The Department of Palaeontology of the Natural History Museum is one of the largest palaeontological research institutions in the world. The collections of the Department include about 9 000 000 specimens, covering vertebrates, invertebrates, microfossils and trace fossils. The Geologists' Association visited the Department on 15 and 22 January, 2000. Highlights of the collection were demonstrated, including Mesozoic marine reptiles, dinosaurs, Archaeopteryx, Aepyornis eggs, plants, bryozoans, echinoderms, foraminiferans, rudist bivalves, arthropods, brachiopods and a notable tablecloth.
