Abstract

Photon, protons and alpha particles shielding properties of (70-x)TeO2-30B2O3-xWO3, where × = 10, 20 ,30 ,40 and 50 mol% were studied. This study exhibits several photon shielding parameters such as mass attenuation coefficient (μm), effective atomic number (Zeff), effective electron density (Nel) and buildup factors (BFs) which simulated by Phy–X/PSD program. Protons and alpha particles shielding represented by mass stopping power value (MSP), and projected range value (PR) which determined by SRIM program. The results exhibited that 20TeO2-30B2O3-50WO3 glass sample had the maximum values of μm, Zeff, Nel and BFs, while MSP and PR were lowest. These results indicated that this glass sample is excellent for photon, protons and alpha particles shielding which lead to use in ionizing radiation shielding material.
