He has written extensively about the history and memory of the Vietnam War, including two books: The Vietnam War in American Memory: Veterans, Memorials, and the Politics of Healing (2009), and American Immunity: War Crimes and the Limits of International Law (2013). He is currently writing a monograph on the principle of command criminal responsibility and the My Lai massacre.
