Abstract

Beauty is an age-old human preoccupation, born at the heart of the development of the arts. However, it is not only of interest to the artist or the art lover. A complex notion defined subjectively and objectively, beauty is at the heart of all human relationships: to be recognised by others certainly requires attracting them, but also being in agreement with our own image. Thus, the body, whether beautiful or ugly, sick or healthy, is seen as a support for the relationship with others.
