Abstract

High energy photons produced from bremsstrahlung foils, Compton scattering or beamstrahlung from high energy e +e − collisions can be used to measure beam profiles using nonimaging optics. We describe the method and its limitations (resolution, backgrounds etc.), as well as the apparatus required to implement it. Data from a low energy test run is described as well as other possible applications, such as a 250 + 250 GeV linear collider and possible experiments with existing beams.
