Abstract
Addis Ababa is growing in terms of size and population. It is also developing multiple forms of interaction with the external world. Though receptive of values of globalization, Addis Ababa remains adamant to prepare itself to preserve its residents from the evils of globalization. In addition to those issues, Addis Ababa, like most other cities in the 21st Century, is affected by ideas of post modernism especially of urban amalgamation, urban secession and securitization. I will briefly view the impacts of these above trends with a view to assess their impact on the self governing status of Addis Ababa. The legal regime, if any, governing these developments will be considered as well.
