Abstract
Jones and Genoways (Trans. Kansas Acad. Sci., 70:184-196, 1967) summarized the distributional status of bats in South Dakota, based on material accumulated prior to 1967. Additional specimens were obtained from the western part of that state in 1967, and observations on these subsequently were published by Turner and Jones (Southwestern Nat., 13:444 447, 1968). Field work during the summer of 1968 yielded new information concerning the distribution and abundance of 10 species of bats in the Black Hills of South Dakota, and these data are summarized here. All measurements cited are in millimeters, and catalogue numbers refer to the collections of The University of Kansas (KU) and the Department of Zoology, University of Kentucky (UK).
