Abstract

Abstract Collaborative results are presented on a basic procedvire for feed microscopy using either the stereoscopic or high power microscope to identify vegetable tissues, animal tissues, and major mineral constituents. A poultry grower mash and a dairy concentrate were studied; each sample contained ingredients conforming to the definitions of the Association of American Feed Control Officials. The identifications of the unknown ingredients by the collaborators were reasonably reliable, and the method is recommended for adoption as official, first action.
