Abstract

This paper presents the design of a micro-strip patch antenna with DGS for wireless LAN applications which can operate at 2.46GHz centre frequency with DGS (Defected Ground Structure) and 2.44GHz centre frequency without DGS which lies in the Type-B of ISM band. The material used for the substrate is Taconic TLX-8. This material has a dielectric constant of 2.550. The length, width and height of the substrate are 60.0mm, 55.0mm, 0.60mm respectively. This antenna is designed and simulated by using HFSS software. The return loss (S 11 ) of the designed antenna is 23.9298 dB and has a bandwidth of 26.5 dB. It has a VSWR of 1.1359.
