Abstract

The band-gap renormalization (BGR) of photoexcited quantum-well wires is studied by treating the Coulomb interaction and the electron– and hole–LO-phonon interaction on an equal footing. Numerical calculations for GaAs quantum-well wires show that the quasi-static approximation overestimates the BGR whereas the ϵ0-approximation works rather well.
