Highlights
A debate occurred on the location of a plaque with the name Jan Hus on the building of the Czech museum at the Czech Landtag in Prague in November 1889
Prince Charles of Schwarzenberg spoke at the meeting and referred to the Hussites as „a troop of robbers and arsonists“
Na Husovi samotném pak nejvíce oceňoval mravní ideálnost.[39] V textu bezprostředně reagujícím na politické spory z konce roku 1889 čteme myšlenky, které později najdeme rozpracované v zásadních Masarykových spisech z poloviny devadesátých let, včetně knihy Jan Hus: naše obrození a naše reformace.[40] Tím však začíná další kapitola druhé života Mistra Jana Husa, mající své vrcholy ve snaze Tomáš Garrigue Masaryka vymanit jej ze zajetí zjednodušujícího národně demokratického mýtu i ve sporu o smysl českých dějin.[41]
Summary
Listopadu 1889 se však stal jiný aristokrat – mladý kníže Karel ze Schwarzenbergu, třicetiletý syn věhlasného předáka konzervativní šlechty, teprve v létě nově zvolený do zemského sněmu.[4] Když se přihlásil o slovo, atmosféra již byla značně napjatá.
