Abstract

In the current manuscript the inorganic glassy system with composition 15Li2O-25RO-59B2O3-0.7CuO-0.3Fe2O3 (R = Ca/Sr/Ba) have been synthesized through classical melt-quench method and investigated by XRD, and optical absorption techniques. The X-ray diffraction images of the synthesized glassy materials substantiated the inorganic glassy structure. The UV–Visible optical absorption spectra of the synthesized glassy materials were recorded with in the wavelength range 300 to 900 nm. The Tauc’s, ASF and DASF methods were employed to ascertain the optical and Urbach energies of the prepared glass system. The effect of alkaline earths on the optical absorption was discussed.
