Abstract
A baloon-dilating helical stone extractor has been designed to facilitate extraction of large ureteral calculi. Balloon-dilatation of the lower ureter is accomplished easily, appears to be safe, and without significant complications. Our results in a limited series of patients are encouraging and seem to warrant continued evaluation.
