Abstract

A ball lightning catalog comprising 65 Austrian cases on record from 1901 until 1979 is presented. Cases from all available sources have been checked and nine occurrences field-investigated. A statistical analysis of the reports and abstracts of ten are given. Every second lightning ball was seen between 3–6 P. M. CET, near the tornado maximum. Four balls passed through obstacles including metal fences.
