Abstract

AbstractHow do you translate an organization's mission and vision into values, and then make sure that these become part of daily operations? At Summa Health System, the answer has been to implement a balanced scorecard in response to external forces, including increasing competition and emerging technologies. In particular, this article discusses implementation and use of the balanced scorecard in Summa Health System's Food and Nutrition Services Department, including the advantages and disadvantages encountered. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
