Abstract
A pregnant woman presented with no signs of infection and gave birth by emergency caesarean section at 27 weeks. Placental histopathology demonstrated moderate histological chorioamnionitis. Microbiology cultures from swabs from the mother’s vagina during labor were reported negative; however, culture-independent analyses returned extensive Bacteroides spp. and Hafnia spp. infections.
