Abstract

New simple reliable methods for determining small amounts of Ti and Zr applying back titration of excess EDTA with mercury(II) and the silver amalgam electrode are given. By their aid together with additional volumetric or gravimetric methods, binary and ternary mixtures are successfully analyzed. In all cases potential breaks of quite large order of magnitude lying in the immediate vicinity of the theoretical end points are obtained. With or without slight modifications, the present methods can be applied to the analysis of alloys and related materials such as illmenite, ferrotitanium, and zircon.
