Abstract

The cover picture depicts three new highly oxygenated dimeric grayanane diterpenoids, bismollethers A—C, from the flowers of Rhododendron molle collected at Qichun, Hubei, China, which is the hometown of Shizhen Li, a renowned Chinese medicine scientist in Ming Dynasty. Bismollether A is a caged grayanane diterpenoid dimer linked by two oxygen‐bridges of C‐2‐O‐C‐14' and C‐14‐O‐C‐2', forming a rare symmetric 1,8‐dioxacyclotetradecane motif. The structures and absolute configurations of A—C were indubitably determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis, revealing the linking manner of two monomers. Six dimeric grayanane diterpenoids displayed significant analgesic activities, and were found to be TRPV1 and TRPA1 dual antagonists. More details are discussed in the article by Yao et al. on page 2285–2295.image
