Abstract

Toroidal excitation in metamaterial is emerging as a novel platform for the localization of optical field in both spatial and time domain. In the article, the authors (DOI: 10.1002/inf2.12174) highlight the recent progresses of toroidal excitations based subwavelength optical localization in various plasmonic and Mie (all‐dielectric) metamaterials, and discuss the toroidal excitation related promising applications for advanced optical field manipulation or information processing in e.g. spaser, sensitive sensing and active nanophotonics. image
