Abstract

In this study, a rotation and revolution type polishing (RRP) method is proposed. With this method, the shape of the polishing tool can be stably maintained, and the surface roughness can be uniformly generated by the polishing velocity distribution in the polished area. This paper discusses the principles of the RRP method, along with the results of simulation of the polishing tool shape. It is also investigated the grinding stone finishing characteristics by a developed RRP unit. The fundamental finishing characteristics with this type RRP unit had been confirmed.
