Abstract
The review addresses the synthetic potential of cations or hydrols of (aza,thio)xanthenes in reactions with primary and secondary amines and imines. The diversity of reaction pathways that depend on the structures of amines and imines is discussed. Biological activity of (aza,thio)-xanthene derivatives is considered.
