Abstract
The lattice parameters and the axial ratio of disordered f.c.t. In-rich alloys in the ternary system of In-Ga-Tl are measured by the X-ray powder method. The results show that the axial ratio remains constant with increasing Ga content along lines of constant Tl concentration, while it decreases appreciably with increasing Tl content along lines of constant Ga concentration. These trends are qualitatively interpreted in terms of the relation of the first few reciprocal lattice vectors to the first zero position in the mean pseudopotential of the alloy (the “ q 0-effect”).
